Pricing

Translation

Factors

Pricing for translation projects is determined by several factors:

  • Number of words in the target text (the resulting translated text)
  • Complexity/technicality of the subject matter
  • Turnaround time

How

Our per-word pricing includes our high quality, unique, multi-step process of translation, editing and proofing. Click here to learn more about our process. A simple business letter or e-mail would be priced at the lowest end of the price scale, while a complex medical or technical manual would be at the highest end. Discounts are available for high-volume translations.

Why

Although pricing translations by the word may seem confusing to a client at first, it is the industry standard. Per-word pricing is more accurate and fair than per-hour pricing for the following reasons: different translators work at different paces, many documents have varying margins and line spacing (and therefore varying word counts), and the rendering of one language into another always effects a change in word count.

How we estimate the price of your project:

Per industry standard for English-Spanish translations, to estimate pricing for your project we take the word count of the source text and add 20% to it to calculate what the target text (resulting translation) will produce. The reason for this is that most Romance languages produce about 20% more words in the translation process from English. The final price will result from an actual word count of the finished translation.
